Stanford University Professor Raif Rustamov participated in the seminar of the Institute
02.06.2014 / Conferences, assemblies"Analysis of geometric data” seminar of Raif Sultanov, Professor at Stanford University (USA) and our compatriot, was held at the Institute of Control Systems on 2 June 2014.
The opening speech was given by the Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, employee of the Institute of Control Systems Samir Rustamov, who told the participants of the seminar about R. Rustamov’s achievements. In his speech, R. Rustamov expressed his gratitude to the administration of the Institute for the opportunity to hold such a seminar in his home country and familiarized the participants with the subject of his scientific work. Doctor of Engineering Prof. K. Mamedov, Doctor of Engineering A. Rzayev, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics G.G. Abdullayeva, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics A.A. Akhundov, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics D. Hasanov and other researchers of the Institute exchanged opinions regarding the study of the properties of 3D objects with the use of mathematical algorithms.
Deputy Director for Science Oktay Nusratov thanked R. Rustamov for his participation in the seminar and wished him success in his future work.
R. Rustamov got his general education in Baku at Physics-Mathematics and Informatics Lyceum. In 1995-1996, he received silver medal for the participation in the International Mathematical Olympiad and UNESCO gold medal. At present, he works in the Geometric Computation laboratory, Computer Science Department of Stanford University (USA). R. Rustamov received his PhD in Applied and Computational Mathematics from Princeton University and worked at Purdue University and Drew University. He received awards as the author of best papers at such high-profile conferences as SGP, MLINI, SIGGRAPH.
Director of the Institute T. Aliev and R. Rustamov discussed possible collaboration of the Institute of Control Systems and Stanford University for future participation in joint projects.
