A regular online meeting of the Academic Council of the Department of Physics, Mathematics and Technical Sciences
27.07.2020 / Conferences, assembliesA regular online meeting of the Scientific Council of the Division of Physics, Mathematics and Technical Sciences (DPMTS) of ANAS was held on 24 July 2020.
The event was attended by the Vice President of ANAS, Chairman of the Academic Council, Academician Rasim Aliguliyev, members of the Council, heads of research institutes, academic secretaries, heads of public relations departments, trade unions, young scientists and specialists, as well as chairpersons of organizations of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), councils of women and veterans.
First, Academician Rasim Aliguliyev announced the awarding of the Full Member of ANAS Tayyar Jafarov with the Shohret ("Glory") Order by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. The Academic Council of DPMTS congratulated Academician T. Jafarov on this high governmental award and wished him new success in his work in the development of Azerbaijani science and increasing its international prestige.
Then R. Aliguliyev brought to the attention of the participants of the meeting the issues on the agenda and noted that in recent years the protection and strengthening of the existing scientific and technical potential of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a national treasure of our people, as well as priority areas of fundamental and applied scientific research to strengthen the country's defense, security, development of the non-oil sector, the solution of socio-economic and cultural problems are in the focus of the country's leadership.
Reporting on some tasks and recommendations given at the meeting of the Presidium of ANAS on 16 July 2020, R. Aliguliyev brought to the attention of the participants the constant active attitude to the issues of combating the COVID-19 virus, which are in the center of attention of the President of ANAS Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, scientists of ANAS, our intelligentsia and young scientists and specialists, as well as to the socio-political processes carried out in the light of the purposeful and successful policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev, and appropriate recommendations for direct participation in the work on objective information distribution and education of society.
Referring to the speech of President Ilham Aliyev at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 15 July 2020, R. Aliguliyev said that the thoughts on the important issues of the socio-political life of the country, Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan, including the events of our recent history, which the head of state expressed in his speech, the strong position put forward rightfully attracted public attention. As Mr. President noted, "the clashes and bloody battles that have taken place in recent days have once again demonstrated the strength of the Azerbaijani state, its army, the unity of the people and government."
The scientist emphasized that this historic speech of the head of state was discussed in detail at the meeting of the Presidium of ANAS on 16 July 2020. President of ANAS Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev stressed that “the speech of Mr. President clearly reflected the threats facing our country, the attitude of the state to these problems. Everyone who is not indifferent to the fate of our country should pay attention to this speech and try to understand the political direction set by the President."
Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics (IMM) of ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS Misir Mardanov noted in his speech that the staff of the institution headed by him highly appreciates the immediate prevention of the provocation of the Armenian army on the border with the Tovuz region by our troops thanks to the prompt and correct decisions of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. At the same time, he always supports the domestic and foreign policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev. The scientist thanked the head of state on his own behalf and on behalf of the IMM employees for caring for Azerbaijani science and the well-being of our scientists.
Mardanov also commented on the recent dissemination of slanderous information about the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and its leadership in some media and social networks and strongly condemned such negative steps aimed at confusing public opinion. He also noted that our intelligentsia should be sensitive to such issues and try to properly inform the public through mass media.
Academician Telman Aliyev, in turn, commented on the recent aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan in the direction of the Tovuz region, noting that the world community has always condemned the aggressive policy of Armenia towards our country. The scientist also highly praised the high patriotic spirit of our youth.
Corresponding Member of ANAS Afig Hasanov called on our intelligentsia to be more sensitive to the socio-political processes taking place in the country, to the requirements and tasks set by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and put forward a proposal to hold a special meeting of the DPMTS Academic Council in order to broadly discuss cooperation with the Ministry of Defense Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Academician Adil Garibov commented on the issues discussed at the meeting of the Presidium on 16 July, including the processes observed in the socio-political life of the country in recent days, and called on our scientists to actively educate our society through television and other media. The scientist also expressed his opinion on the video conference held yesterday by President Ilham Aliyev on the state of water resources, and said that he unambiguously supports the point of view and reasonable statements of the president.
In his speech, Academician Nazim Mammadov noted that “every employee of the Institute of Physics is always there for our army and its Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, in the name of protecting our borders and liberating our lands from Armenian occupation”. He also told the participants that his colleagues from Spain, Switzerland and other European countries condemned the provocation committed by Armenia on the border with the Tovuz region and stated that they recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and its inviolability.
Academician Arif Gashimov, in turn, highly appreciated the domestic and foreign policies of President Ilham Aliyev, the demonstrated purposeful policy of forming the army in our country, combating COVID-19 and eliminating other objective problems, and said that the intelligentsia bears great responsibility in these matters.
Director of the Institute of Biophysics of ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS Oktay Gasimov drew the attention of the participants to the recent acts of violence committed by Armenian provocateurs against our compatriots living in Los Angeles, USA. He emphasized that the hateful actions of the enemy against our compatriots must be punished by law. The scientist also spoke about the research carried out by the scientists of his institution to combat the COVID-19 virus, noting that the important results obtained by our specialists have already been included in the official TƏBIB treatment protocol.
Director of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory named after Nasraddin Tusi, Corresponding Member of ANAS Namig Jalilov condemned the aggressive, hateful policy of Armenia towards Azerbaijan. He noted that prompt, estimable actions on the part of the President of our country in response to the Armenian provocation on the border with the Tovuz region were met in a short time with sympathy and unconditional support of our country, as well as the world community, especially scientists and intellectuals.
The members of the Academic Council of DPMTS again emphasized with confidence that our scientists, as always, consider it important to rally around our President and always support the principles of statehood by which he is guided. It was noted that the researchers and scientists of ANAS will always be guided by the tasks set by Mr. Ilham Aliyev in his historical speech.
The next issue on the agenda was devoted to the discussion of research programs that will be funded within the budget of scientific institutions of the Division of Physics, Mathematics and Technical Sciences of ANAS for 2020. The heads of research institutes informed the participants of the online meeting in detail about this issue. The members of the Academic Council unanimously supported the presented research projects and decided to submit them to the Presidium of ANAS.
During the discussion of scientific and organizational issues, the members of the Academic Council decided to submit a petition to ANAS and the country's leadership regarding celebration of the 100th anniversary of the world-famous Azerbaijani scientist, founder of the theory of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic, Honorary Member of ANAS, Professor Lotfi Zadeh.
It was also decided to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS, which made a significant contribution to the development of information and communication technologies in our country, as well as to hold and support international conferences "E-infrastructures for the Eastern Partnership countries" with the support of the European Commission and "The Challenges of Cybersecurity in Industrial Control Systems" with NATO support in 2021.
The participants also discussed the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Corresponding Member of ANAS Kamil Aydazade, Professors Kamil Mansimov and Knyaz Mammadov, as well as Gambar Guliyev, Doctor of Engineering, the 65th anniversary of Professor Nariman Ismayilov, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, as well as awarding the Janmamed Rustamov, PhD in Physics and Mathematics.
Then the members of the Academic Council were informed about the project of the Certificate of Merit of the Division of Physics, Mathematics and Technical Sciences. The project was unanimously adopted by the Council members.
A number of personnel issues were also discussed at the online meeting. According to the decisions made, Gambar Guliyev, Doctor of Engineering, was appointed Deputy Director for Technologies of the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS, and the candidates nominated by the Institute of Biophysics were approved - Doctors of Biology Kerim Gasimov and Tokay Huseynov as heads of relevant laboratories, Rasim Aslanov, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Biology Mursal Dadashov as leading researchers.
At the end of the meeting, a number of important issues were discussed and answers to questions from participants were given.
